Language:We continued our Novel Study!
"The Little House in the Big Woods" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The students took turns reading the parts book and thoroughly enjoyed helping me read things out as I barely had a voice today. We completed the comprehension worksheets together for the first few questions and then they had time to work on it independently.
Recess/Lunch
Math:.
Today we started our lesson with a review of what we learned about yesterday. Once we corrected some of our homework, we continued with our lesson on comparing and ordering numbers. We did examples of how to use the symbols and write them in words/use our math language.
We then learned about how to use place value in order to help us put numbers in order from least to greatest or greatest to least. We placed our numbers in a chart and started in the thousands column to compare the numbers. Which one was the greatest number? The biggest digit in the thousands column equals the biggest number. If the digits are identical then you must look to the next column to compare.
We played a place value dice game with a partner and compared then ordered the numbers we created. We had a lot of fun!
UOI: Lastly
we worked on reading an article about "Inside a Pioneer's Home" together.
As a class we took turns reading this article and worked together
on the comprehension questions. We will continue tomorrow with looking
for key words in the article to help us answer the comprehension
questions. Please reinforce looking for key words when reading and answering questions at home.
