Important Reminder:

Tomorrow (Friday June 1) will be our Track and Field day, Ms. Yustin will be posting on her blog at 9 am tomorrow if there will be a need for a rain day (which will be on MONDAY JUNE 4).

Please do not forget for your child:

Art's Night Practice at the City Church!

Thank you to everyone who attended our performance in the afternoon and evening. The students worked so hard and it definitely paid off. I am so proud of them!!

Here is what we did today:

We rehearsed at the City Church today! We are working hard and trying our hardest to be loud!

While we were waiting we completed our Math review, Spelling Lesson 32, Novel study and some DRAs!! The Grade 3s were busy today but had so much fun! Keep practicing at home!!

For Homework:
 -Read for 25 minutes!!

Math: Today we reviewed what are skeletons, how to build them and how to count the edges and vertices of the skeleton. They built their own shapes from skeletons in groups and completed a worksheet.

Math: Today we did a fun review activity about properties of 3D shapes. They were groups of 3 and had to match a picture, the faces of the shape and the written description of the shape. First team to complete it correctly wins house points! Once the game was complete we discussed how we can sort 3D shapes. We created a chart to help us remember. We all gathered around the carpet and practiced sorting shapes into different categories. To complete the lesson we did some textbook questions.

UOI: Today we learned about the difference between a monocot and a dicot. We went through the differences with a powerpoint and then went outside to explore our playground. We found so many examples of monocots and dicots! We had so much fun!

Here is what we did today:

Since we did not have gym we went outside to practice some more. After finalizing our dance moves we had some free time to play!

Novel Study: We continued to read our novel study book, "The Secret Garden." We completed some comprehension and reflection questions independently as DRAs were taking place.

Recess/Lunch

Math: Today we learned about the faces of 3D shapes! We looked at different shapes and described the faces that make up that particular shape. For example: a cube is made of 6 congruent squares. We did some textbook questions and a worksheet before talking about how there are shapes all around us. We looked for examples within our classroom like our sharpener is a rectangular prism. Then we had a mini house game in class, I divided them into equal groups according to their houses. Each group was given a chart that had examples of shapes in our daily life. They had to properly spell the name of each shape in order to win some house points. They loved this game!!

UOI: Today we learned about the parts of a flower and the life cycle of a plant. We watched 2 videos about each concept and created beautiful pictures to describe the parts of a flower and the life cycle of the flower.
