Here is what we did today:

Music: Please see Mrs. McMillan's blog for more detail. www.mrsmcmillanmusic.blogspot.com
Inquiry into Language: We worked on Lesson 25 in our workbooks. We needed a reminder what were consonants and how to add -ed and -ing to words ending in a consonant.
Recess/Lunch

UOI: Today we started our soil experiment! We went outside to dig up some soil and place it into our jars. We added water and drew what we saw. Then we shook the jars!!! We drew what we saw in the jar after 5 minutes of the jar being still. Tomorrow we are going to continue to draw what we see in our jar.

Inquiry into Math: We started the lesson with a quick quiz on angles to see how we are doing with this concept. Once we were finished, we learned about Quadrilaterals! A quadrilateral is a figure with 4 sides. We started to explore different figures with our table groups and will continue tomorrow.

Recess/Lunch

Art's Night Dance Rehearsal: We worked with a choreographer on our dance! We will continue tomorrow.
Pie in the face: Poor Ms. Cass got pied in the face! Hopefully I'm not the next one!!!

Autism Awareness Month: We watched a video to better help us understand what it means. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtRYKjucDHk

Wear BLUE for $2 on
  World Autism Awareness Day
What is Blue for $2?
  • Across the world, schools are participating in Autism Awareness Day where wearing the colour blue celebrates inclusiveness, understanding and acceptance.
  • Wearing blue is in support of those who are on the Autism Spectrum. Donating a toonie provides you with the opportunity to wear blue on April 2nd to support Oakwood and everyone on the Autism Spectrum and their families.

Why is Blue for $2 important?
  • Wearing blue on World Autism Awareness Day shows your support and raises awareness of how we all should care about everyone on the Autism Spectrum.
What is Autism?
  • Autism impacts the way individuals communicate, understand other people and learn
  • Their senses are effected – either over stimulated or under stimulated (e.g., busy places might be really overwhelming or certain clothes might be uncomfortable)
  • As a result their emotional, social, developmental skills are impacted
What will the funds go towards?
  • All funds raised during Autism Awareness Month go towards much needed sensory equipment and other learning tools to support our student’s developmental needs.
