Inquiry into Language: We did our lesson 33 spelling test!

Recess/Lunch

Reading Buddies: We read with our friends from Ms. King's class. We also had our favourite little buddy in our class today! We were so respectful and caring of his needs, great job Grade 3s!

Inquiry into Math: We did some review math questions from our worksheets and textbook!

UOI: Today we learned about what are the important components of a print advertisement. We brainstormed the success criteria together and then got started on creating our own print advertisements!

Recess/Lunch

UOI: We continued working more on the advertisements. If not completed, it was for homework!

Outdoor Play: Since we haven't had gym, I decided to take them outside to get some fresh air.

Grade 6 Presentation: Ekaam and Jayden had a fantastic presentation on internet safety.

UOI: Today we learned how to analyse an advertisement! We anaylsed one as a class and then either with a partner or individually they were able to analyse an ad.

Recess/Lunch

Inquiry into Math: Today we learned about figures that have the same areas but different perimeters. To solve this questions it's important to think: What multiplied by what will give me the area desired? We practiced together and then they worked on a worksheet.

We also practiced solving for perimeter when measurements are missing. We did many examples together. If a horizontal line measure is missing use the other horizontal line measurements and either add or subtract them together to find the missing length.

Grade 6 Presentation: Dean and Thomas had an amazing presentation on Cyber-bullying! The Grade 3s loved all the activities!

Inquiry into Language: We did our OWA post assessment.

Inquiry into Math: Today we learned that shapes can have the same perimeter but different areas! We learned how to solve for this and how to draw the figures.

UOI: We had a discussion about the Media can influence the way we think, feel about things and ourselves. We watched these ads and discussed how they made us feel and how others could feel when watching them. These are the ads we watched:

UOI: We discussed the different advertising techniques used in digital and print advertisement. We completed an Advertisement Technique Matching Sheet and took it up as a class. We gave examples of each technique and watched video examples of each technique.

 

Recess/Lunch

 

Inquiry into Math: We started the warm up activity by estimating the area of our classroom and then actually using metre sticks to measure the length and width of of classroom. We had to use objects or our bodies to help try to estimate the length and width of the classroom. We also reviewed the formulas for area and perimeter.

 

Today we learned about estimating area of irregular shapes. We used symbols to help us count the squares inside. We really enjoyed this lesson!

 

Inquiry into Language: We read some of our OREO paragraphs to the class, fantastic job Grade 3s! We completed another OREO together as a class!
