Reading Buddies: We went to our friends in Ms. King's class.
Inquiry into Math: Today we learned about Perimeter! We learned that perimeter is the distance around an object. We began the lesson by learning how to count the sides of a shape to find the perimeter. Then we moved on to learning how to add up the sides. We practiced finding perimeter by adding up the side of the shape. We learned the formula for perimeter: P=S+S+S+S (P for perimeter and S for side). We learned how to find the missing sides of a shape as well.
Once we practiced finding perimeter, we looked at finding the Perimeter of larger regions. We practiced comparing two large regions' perimeters. We discussed why it is important to make sure that all sides are the same unit of measurements. We did a few examples as a class and then the students said they were ready for their worksheets.
UOI: Today we looked expectation vs reality! It was a fun lesson as we look at a lot of food advertisements and how they make food look so delicious and fresh but in real life they are very small and messy. We also looked at how colours can influence an individual who is buying a product. Colours make us feel emotions and affect our mood. We looked at real like examples; for example: McDonald's colours are red and yellow. Red makes you hungry and yellow makes you happy!
