Here is what we did today:

French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more detail. https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com

Music: Please see Mrs. McMillan's blog for more detail. www.mrsmcmillanmusic.blogspot.com

Inquiry into Math: We wrote our math test for transformational geometry!

Recess/Lunch

Inquiry into Math: We started our need unit, Length, Area and Perimeter! We started the unit off with learning what are linear dimensions. Linear dimensions are length, width, height, thickness and depth. They are ways of describing objects. Here is the definition of each one.

Length: How long an object is
Width: How wide an object is.
Depth: Holds liquid and has volume. (Think of a pool or a bucket)
Height and thickness is measured from the base to the top of an object. They are sometimes interchangeable. However, whether or not you are measuring height or thickness depends on the object. For example, you aren't going to measure the height of a sandwich you would measure the thickness. You would measure the height of a sign not the thickness of the sign.

We brainstormed objects that we would measure using certain types of linear dimensions. We estimated the height of our classroom door and then used a meter stick to measure it. Remember to start from the zero when measuring with a ruler. After all the estimating and measuring, we worked on textbook questions.

UOI: Today we learned about what is media literacy and the different types of media! We learned that media isn't just electronics, it is newspapers, books, magazines, podcasts, advertisements and so much more. We sorted them by media we listen to, read and view/watch. We also learned about the purpose of media: to persuade, inform and entertain! We will look more into this tomorrow.
