Here is what we did today:

French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more information.

Morning Meeting/Agendas

Gym: Please see Mr. Beresford's blog for more information.

Language:  We talked about how we describe characters. I noticed that we have had a hard time describing characters in our DRA. So we listened to the first few pages of a book on raz kids and we talked about how we describe the characters. I told them that they need to be specific with what the book told them and make inferences based on what happens. They should aim for 2 or more pieces of specific information for each character they describe. Next we talked about making predictions. If they are making three predictions the first should be about something that could happen in the beginning, the second a problem that could happen and the third is a solution that could happen. All of the predictions should be based on information from the story and given in their predictions. After practicing together, each student was given a book at their level and a comprehension worksheet. If not completed it was assigned for homework.

Recess/Lunch

Math:. Today we reviewed our concept of telling time. There was 30 clocks posted all over the class and they had to fill in worksheet. Once complete, they could start their math review package.

Music: Please see Mr. Oliver's blog for more information

Recess/Lunch

UOI: Today we talked about natural and manmade resources. We discussed the importance of conserving these natural resources in order to help the environment. The discussion really went in depth about how we could save the environment and they really had some great ideas. For example: If we cut down trees then we should be planting more in order to still have clean air. Electric cars should be more bought more by people because they don't use gas. After this activity, they were sorted in groups and had to sort through pictures and decide if they are natural or manmade. We took them up as a group.

Our chosen speech presenters were announced today but prior to this announcement we read a book and spoke about success, making mistakes and how we grow from them. We talked about our feelings and how very proud I am of each and every one of them. We had a group hug at the end and packed up for dismissal.

A message from the Admissions Coordinator…

Hello SJA Parents and Guardians,

This is just a friendly reminder that our deadline for re-registration is just days away! Currently, we have a number of families on waitlists wanting to secure any vacancies that may be available to them once this deadline has passed. Therefore, in order to ensure that your child has a secured placement for the upcoming academic year (2018-2019), we kindly ask that if you have not already done so, to please complete and return your child’s registration package to their homeroom teacher as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support with St. Jude’s Academy.

Best regards,

Helen Markovic
