Here is what we did today:

French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more information.

Morning Meeting/Agendas

Gym: Please see Mr. Beresford's blog for more information.

Language:  Today we did our daily language drills. Once we took these up we practiced on our speeches.

Recess/Lunch

Math:. Today we learned about mass! We learned that mass is how heavy an object is and can be measured in grams or kilograms. We learned that 1000 g= 1 kg. We passed around different weights so they can have an idea of what it feels like. We talked about how a paper clip is worth 1 gram and a textbook is about 1 kg. They are to use this to help them determine how heavy something is and what it would be measured in. Next we used the pan balances and compared the weight of different objects against each other and against different weights. They were separated into groups and given various amounts of weights that they had to find objects in the class to balance their scale. We finished off with some textbook questions. They loved today's lesson.

Music: Please see Mr. Oliver's blog for more information

Recess/Lunch

UOI: Today we talked about physical landforms. First we watched a video to help us understand landforms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYUzvMFvnps

Next I showed them some pictures from Ms.Ross' trip to Scotland which had some great pictures of different landforms and some other pictures to provide them with a further example!

Desert:
 Island
 Ocean
 Plains
 Volcano

Next they did a matching game with their partners in which they had to match the definition to the picture of the landform. We finished off the period with a definition worksheet. They did great!

A message from the Admissions Coordinator…

Hello SJA Parents and Guardians,

This is just a friendly reminder that our deadline for re-registration is just days away! Currently, we have a number of families on waitlists wanting to secure any vacancies that may be available to them once this deadline has passed. Therefore, in order to ensure that your child has a secured placement for the upcoming academic year (2018-2019), we kindly ask that if you have not already done so, to please complete and return your child’s registration package to their homeroom teacher as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support with St. Jude’s Academy.

Best regards,

Helen Markovic
