French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more detail. https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com

Music: Please see Mrs. McMillan's blog for more detail. www.mrsmcmillanmusic.blogspot.com

UOI: They continued working on their rough drafts. We checked in after every paragraph we wrote to ensure we are on the right track.

Recess/Lunch

UOI: We continued working on their summatives.

Inquiry into Math: We started up the lesson with review some of the tricky questions from our homework last night.

Then we talked about adding and subtracting decimals. The students loved these concept! We just had to remember to line up the decimal point before adding and subtracting. For adding: If the number equals more than 9 then we have to carry it over the decimal point. For subtraction: The bigger number must be on the top and to borrow from our neighbors.

It is very important to remember that we have to line up the decimal point and make sure that if there are any empty spaces to fill it in with zeros.

Here is what we did today:

We got a TV in our class!! All that fundraising money really is being out to great use! Thank you to all the SJA families.

French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more detail. https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com

Inquiry into Language: We did a refresher lesson on how to write a rough draft in paragraph form together.

UOI: They completed their story mountains and started working on their rough drafts.

Recess/Lunch

UOI: We continued working on their summatives.

Inquiry into Math: Today we talked about comparing and ordering fractions. First we took up the homework as to ensure we understood the homework. Next, we started talking about ordering and comparing decimals. The first step they always need to do is put them in in a line. They do not need to be in order but this will help them to compare the columns. They first look at the first column and see if they can see right away what is the first or last number and can put those in right away. Then we go to the next column  etc. This helps us to keep the numbers in line.

If all of the numbers don't have the same amount of numbers you can put place holders (zeros) at the end or the beginning to keep the numbers in line.

Recess/Lunch

Extra work time: We worked on our summatives and math homework.

Music: Please see Mrs. McMillan's blog for more detail. www.mrsmcmillanmusic.blogspot.com
Inquiry into Language: We worked on Lesson 17 in our workbook and spelling sentences. We worked on what is peer editing. We learned that there are 3 steps which should all be done positively. Step 1: Compliment, Step 2: Suggestions and Step 3: Corrections. The students used the stories they wrote on Friday and with a partner they practiced peer editing.

Recess/Lunch
UOI: We went through what is a deadline and the importance of making deadlines. We made deadlines in our organizers and went through the graphic organizers. We spoke about expectations for each component. They began to work on their story mountains.

Inquiry into Math: Today we talked about decimals! Decimals are parts of a whole, similar to a fraction. We talked about two places after the decimal point, tenths and hundredths. We used base ten blocks and a place value chart to better help us understand how to make a decimal from a fraction.

Remember: if the fraction is over ten there will be one number after the decimal point. If the fraction is over 100 then it will be two numbers have the decimal point.
