Inquiry into Math: Today we explored DOUBLE BAR GRAPHS! We know that a double bar graph is used to compare data that is similar. We did an example all together on the board. We made sure it included all the important parts. After, we looked at how to describe this graph and how to compare the data. Then, we worked in partners to create our own double bar graphs.
Things to remember:
- All bars need to be the same distance apart from each other
- All bars need to be the same width (use grid paper to do so)
- The scale is written on the physical line on the side, not in the box
- The categories can be written vertically or horizontally to help you organize your graph
- A label must go on each axes of your graph
- Your title must tell the reader what the data is about
- Your title should sit right above your data-- not a huge space between your bars and the title
- There should be a key to tell the reader what each bar represents
