Inquiry into Language: We did a pop quiz on common and proper nouns! Once the students completed the quiz, they worked on a cut and paste common and proper noun activity. If they successfully completed that, they were able to work on their cursive.
UOI: Today Ms. Foti's class joined us for a discussion on forces of nature that cause natural disaster. We discussed the forces of wind, water and earth and how they affect the environment and people. For example: Tsunamis affect the environment by the loss of habitat for animals and people. They can harm the well-being of people as well. We broke off into groups and chose a a force of nature and a natural disaster and described how they affect the environment and the people who live there.
Recess/Lunch
Inquiry into Math: We explored short division today!! We started the lesson with a review on how to label a division fact/sentence and how to complete division with remainders.
Then we went into the steps of short division! Here are the steps and picture examples of how to complete each step!
We did many examples together and the students worked on an independent task before working on some textbook questions. Here is a picture of the homework:
Recess/Lunch
Silent Reading: We engaged in 20 minutes of silent reading. We spoke about how to properly chose a book for our reading level.
UOI: We picked our partners for our summative. Each student had a conference with me to choose who they want as their partner. They to give me a reason why they believe that person would be a good partner and had to promise to be good communicators. They had time to work together to start planning the summatives.
