Inquiry into Language: Today we learned about proper nouns vs common nouns. We learned that common nouns are people, places and things. Proper nouns are the special names to those people, places and things. They also start with a capital letter. For example: city is a common noun and Toronto is the proper noun. We worked on some worksheets together and then the students were able to play a proper noun tic-tac-toe game with a partner.
Recess/Lunch
Inquiry into Math: Our lesson today was about dividing with remainders! We practiced labeling division sentences, we did many examples on the board together. Then we practiced dividing with remainders. We learned that remainder do happen when there are not enough to make equal groups so you have some leftover. We practiced showing how many times does the divisor go into the dividend evenly. You write that number up on the top, then you see how many are leftover. We count up to find that answer.
UOI: Today we learned why we have safety devices. For example seat belts in a car. We looked at what movement was being slowed down or stopped. Then we looked at the object that was causing it to happen. We completed a worksheet together.
