Here is what we did today:

Music: Please see Ms. McMillian's blog for more detail.

UOI: Today we learned about being assertive and using I-messages. We spoke about how it is important to boost your self-esteem by being confident and standing up for yourself plays a big role in that. We talked about what it means to be assertive and how using I-messages can help get our thoughts and emotions through to others. We brainstormed as a class how to solve a scenario using I-messages and then did this with partners. Our goal is to use these on the playground and throughout our day to day life.

Inquiry into Language: We completed our Lesson 8 spelling test. We did not write sentences today as we were pressed for time.

Recess/Lunch

Inquiry into Math: YAY! We finally feel more confident with long and short division. Today was another day of review. We used our mini-whiteboards and I each gave them a copy of the steps to long division to help follow along. I would write questions on the board and they would each work them out on the boards. When finished, they raise them in the air so I can check their work. We did these for both long and short division.

(We found that when we show our work for short division it was easier for us to understand where the numbers where coming from)
Here is an extra math worksheet to practice division at home:

French: Please see Mme. Rawan's blog for more detail.

Recess/Lunch

UOI: We started our scrapbook! We worked on the first three pages of the book and are so excited for this summative task. We didn't want to stop at agenda time because we were having so much fun creating our books!
