Friday January 17th, 2020

Here is what we did today:

Music: Please see Ms. McMillian's blog for more detail.

Inquiry into Language: Today we had a work period for our speeches. We also completed our spelling test for lesson 17.

Library: We went to visit Ms. Hayward and participate in a read aloud.

Recess/Lunch

UOI: We worked in our summative groups. All reasons were approved today. They are to research at home the reason they chose. They must write the point form notes of their research in their own words and provide me with a copy of their research to check for academic honesty.

French: Please see Mme. Rawan's blog for more detail.

Recess/Lunch

Inquiry into Math: We started our lesson with a mini quiz on time to see what we know and what we still need to focus on. We reviewed how to describe time: in digit form or in words.

Our focus today was on estimating and counting money. We reviewed what it means to estimate and as a class we completed a few examples of estimating and counting out money with bills and coins at The Bank of Ms. Chiappetta. The steps to counting money were to: 1) Start with the bills 2) Organize your coins and make groups of coins worth $1 and 3) Count the leftover coin. We also spoke about showing the same value of money in different ways. We discussed that using the least amount of bills/coins is the best way to show an amount of money. We did a couple examples together and will continue to practice on Monday!
