Monday January 20th, 2020

Here is what we did today:

Inquiry into Language: We started our day with working on spelling lesson 18 and pg 46-47 in our cursive book. Then we read Chapter 4 as a class. We went over what a metaphor and simile is (figurative language: used to compare to things), in order to answer their comprehension questions.

Inquiry into Math: We started our lesson with a review on time and counting money. We did two table group activities; groups had to answer 10 flash cards and then count an amount of bills and coins given.

Today we learned about making change. We did many examples on the board together. We started by looking at word problems and breaking them apart to find all the important information. This really helped us understand the question more.

The students were told the cost of an item and had to decide how much change they would get back. We started by counting up from the cents to the nearest dollar and then once they have the nearest dollar how much until the money given. Then we worked on our worksheets!

Grade 2 Art Exhibition: Thank you to Ms. Hughes' class for sharing your cultural artifacts.
