Fun Friday!

Math:. Today we expanded on what we learned about with growing and shrinking patterns. We spoke about the Step 3 Pattern Rule. We did a few examples on the board and everyone was really excited that they understood the practice patterns.

The 3 Step Pattern Rule:

The students always start a pattern rule with “Start at”. The next step is whether you are adding or subtracting from the first term to the second term and with what number. What you are increasing/decreasing the number by each time.

Example: Start at 70. Add 1. Increase the number by 1 each time.

I’ve attached some extra tips about number patterns to their homework worksheets. We began brainstorming about equations!

UOI/Language: Today we learned the difference between a fact and an opinion! We brainstormed the differences and really gave some fun examples. The students completed a worksheet that had statements that had to be sorted between fact and opinion. We enjoyed debating each statement!

UOI: Today we continued to learn about the use of Ethos, Pathos and Logos in advertisements. We took a look at three different advertisements and decided which category they fell into. Each student completed a graph where they had to cut out different statements and sort them under the right category.
