Inquiry into Language: We continued to our lesson on writing a letter. As a class we decided we wanted to write a letter to Ms. Chin. We brainstormed ideas for what we could possibly tell her. Our topic was International Day and recalled all the important parts of a letter. We focused on commas, periods and proper letter format. Here is our letter:
After as an exit ticket, we reviewed the uses of a Period. We went through the four rules:
They completed a worksheet after the lesson in which they had to correct all the sentences and add the periods which were missing.
Recess/Lunch
Math: Today we learned about Equations Involving Addition! We discussed "What is an equation?" Equations are number sentences that show how two things are equal. I wrote a few different versions of equations on the board and we discussed why those would considered equations.
Then we practiced our addition facts with equations. We did one question all together and then we took turns completing the equation with addition facts.
Once we completed that we worked on solving equations that had missing numbers. We used the strategy that you find the sum of one side of the equal sign and then you take that sum and subtract the number from the opposite side of the equal sign to find that missing number.
UOI: We continued to work hard on our summatives.
