Language: We continued our Novel Study! "The Little House in the Big Woods" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The students made many connections to chapter and enjoyed "Grandpa and the Panther." We completed a worksheet to compliment the chapter we read. they had to draw and write a sentence about different events from the chapter.
Daily 5: We worked on our Cursive and reading with a partner.
Recess/Lunch
Math: We counted to practice our rounding! We took up yesterday's homework and did a couple of examples as a class on solving word problems. We practiced using place value and underlining the number we are rounding again as some of us were having trouble.
As an exit ticket, I put a word problem on the board and provide each group with chart paper. They had to show their work and be able to explain to me why they believe their answer is correct.
Once that was complete, the students had time to start their math worksheets on rounding to the nearest 10s, 100s and 1000s.
Recess/Lunch
UOI: Today we learned about the four types of pioneer homes! We read the article together and circled the key words that would help us with the comprehension worksheet. On the worksheet, there was statements describing each type of home. They had to use the key words to decide which description matched the four houses. We were able to describe each type of home; log cabin, plank house, stone house and sod house. We vote on which type of house we'd like to live in and why as well!
